SAGUWE :: In The Beginning
SSAGO? what’s that, I hear you ask! It stands for Student Scout And Guide Organisation, and is now back in force at the University of the West of England.

It all started on 25th October 2007, when 10 students (some scouts, some guides, some nobodies) turned up in a group room above the bar (as evident by the pint glass on the table) to discuss the need for a SSAGO group at UWE and to establish our committee.

We now have regular social meetings on a Thursday evening, starting at 7:30 / 8pm, in various locations, doing various activities. So far these have included a pub-crawl around Bristol city centre, bowling at Hollywood Bowl, more pub quizzes, and our own Christmas meal.

SAGUWE :: Activities Awards 2008
21st April saw the UWESU Societies Awards take over Red Bar - a chance for the soceties exec to thank societies for their outstanding contributions over the last year, and we are proud to announce that SAGUWE was nominated in three categories:
  • Best New Society
  • Best Website
  • "The Other Award" - Most Outrageous Request

  • We walked away with two runners up awards, the Best Website being won by the Postgrad Society; and Western Footlights winning "The Other Award" - What's going on with your committee.

    We did get one gong though - the Best New Society Award, which we're very impressed with. The only downside is that we can't win it again - so Best Society next year? Or can Laura think of another crazy request??

    Congratulations to all the other winners, and a great big thank you to everyone who nominated and voted for us!! Here's to another successful year next year!!

    SAGUWE :: Where We Are
    We're currently a growing society.SAGUWE will be appearing at all the Freshers Fairs at UWE Bristol this year.
